The extremely powerful second blast resulted in at least 158 deaths, 6,000 injuries, $10-15 billion US dollars in property damage and an estimated 300,000 people made homeless. The blast has been linked to about 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate that had been confiscated by the Lebanese government from the abandoned Russian ship and stored in the port without proper safety measures for six years.
The cause of the explosion has been explained as a fire in an adjacent storage of fireworks, yet the video appears to show a missile hitting the storage area.
